Terminator 2: Judgment Day Returns to Theaters for 35th Anniversary
STUDIOCANAL, Fathom Entertainment, and Rialto Pictures today announced that James Cameron’s Oscar-winning and groundbreaking sci-fi action classic Terminator 2: Judgment Day is set to return to theaters in 4K, RealD 3D, and premium formats.
To mark the 35th anniversary, Terminator 2: Judgment Day will play in U.S. theaters from August 28 through September 2, 2026, and will premiere worldwide in late August/early September (see below) to commemorate the film’s “Judgment Day” (August 29).

Originally released in 1991, T2 remains one of the highest-grossing and most influential films ever made. Starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, Linda Hamilton, Edward Furlong, and Robert Patrick, the film earned four Academy Awards and revolutionized action cinema with effects that still hold up today. Terminator 2: Judgment Day holds a 90% critics score and a 95% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.
The U.S. release has a wide national theatrical footprint from a partnership between Fathom Entertainment, the leading specialty distributor of content to theatrical partners worldwide, and Rialto Pictures, with STUDIOCANAL handling global distribution across worldwide territories. The 4K and 3D presentation uses STUDIOCANAL’s acclaimed 2017 restoration and 3D conversion.
