Squid Game Season 2 Trailer and Key Art Have Arrived

Netflix has released the official Squid Game Season 2 trailer and key art. With the premiere just around the corner on December 26, the trailer delivers an electrifying glimpse into the deadly games and character dynamics that await fans worldwide.

In the new Squid Game Season 2 trailer, a hardened Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae), aka Player 456, returns to the deadly games with one goal in mind: to end the horrifying competition once and for all.

Forced to play a new set of games, Gi-hun finds himself locked in a tense battle with the shadowy Front Man (Lee Byung-hun), whose true motivations remain cloaked in secrecy as the twists and turns of Season 2 unfurl. Will Gi-hun succeed, and how many more lives will the system claim as he tries?

Created by Hwang Dong-hyuk, Squid Game quickly became a global juggernaut following its debut in 2021. After 12 years in development, it took just 12 days for it to become Netflix’s most popular series ever. Capturing the world’s attention, it dominated the Global Top 10 for nine consecutive weeks — a first for any non-English series — and made history with groundbreaking Emmy wins.

Director Hwang Dong-hyuk is thrilled about what’s in store when Squid Game returns. “Season 2 explores how Gi-hun follows through on his words after leaving the airport,” he says. “Gi-hun’s endeavor to find out who these people are and why they do what they do is the core story of Season 2.”

Lee added: “In Season 1, there was room to show glimpses of Gi-hun’s various personalities, such as his optimistic nature and positive energy. This time, the focus was on his determination.”

The series made Emmy history with first-ever wins for a non-English language series. Following this success, Netflix debuted Squid Game: The Challenge, the Emmy-nominated and BAFTA-winning reality series that also topped the Netflix Global Top 10.

The franchise continues to expand with Squid Game: The Experience, a touring activation where fans can play series-inspired games; Squid Game: Virtuals, a Webby-winning VR adventure; and in 2024, a multiplayer video game, Squid Game: Unleashed.
