Netflix has shared the official trailer and key art for Nobody Wants This. All 10 episodes of the romantic comedy series will launch on September 26, 2024.
In the series, an agnostic podcast host and an unconventional rabbi on the rebound walk into a party. When they walk out — together — the unlikely pair, Joanne (Kristen Bell) and Noah (Adam Brody), can tell there is something between them.
But also potentially between them, with their differing outlooks on life, all of the modern obstacles to love, and their sometimes well-meaning, sometimes sabotaging families — including her sister Morgan (Justin Lupe) and his brother Sasha (Timothy Simons).
The Nobody Wants This cast includes Kristen Bell, Adam Brody, Justine Lupe, Timothy Simons, Stephanie Faracy, Michael Hitcock, Tovah Feldshuh, Paul Ben-Victor, Emily Arlook, Jackie Tohn, Sherry Cola, and Shiloh Berman.
Creator Erin Foster executive produces with Steven Levitan, Craig DiGregorio, Kristen Bell, Sara Foster, Danielle Stokdyk, Jeff Morton, and Jack Burditt. Oly Obst is the executive producer for 3arts.
“This show really represents how I view love now, which is so different than how I viewed it before,” Erin Foster told Netflix blog Tudum. “Being in a really beautiful, healthy, fun relationship made me soften some of my cynicism.”
She continued: “This show is based on the only good decision I ever made: falling for a nice Jewish boy. But I realized that being happy is way harder than being miserable — there’s nothing to complain about. So, I created this show based on all the ways that finding the right person can be so hard.”
Foster also commented on Kristen Bell portraying a character inspired by herself for the series. “She held onto so much of herself and then also created this character who I really liked but was comfortable showing the flaws.”
On Adam Brody joining the series, she said: “He’s been so careful with what he’s done. For him to feel like this was his leading man comeback onto the scene in TV was a huge honor for me.”
Foster talked about how the series navigates religion as well. “The show is not making any political statements because I’m not the person to make that statement. I didn’t grow up Jewish; I converted as an adult. I wanted to tell a Jewish story, but from an outsider’s perspective, for someone who chose Judaism.”
