New Resident Evil Trailer From Sony Pictures
Sony Pictures has released the official trailer for the new Resident Evil movie. From Columbia Pictures and Constantin Film, in association with TriStar Pictures, Resident Evil hits theaters on September 18, 2026.
From the mind of visionary filmmaker Zach Cregger (Weapons, Barbarian) comes a thrilling — and terrifying — reinvention of the Resident Evil franchise.
In an all-new story, Resident Evil follows Bryan (Austin Abrams), a medical courier who unwittingly finds himself in an action-packed, non-stop race for survival as one fateful, horrifying night collapses around him in chaos.
In addition to Austin Abrams (Weapons), the survival horror film also stars Zach Cherry (Severance), Kali Reis (Mercy), and Paul Walter Hauser (upcoming Scooby-Doo: Origins).
The film is directed by Zach Cregger from a script by Cregger and Shay Hatten. The producers include Robert Kulzer, Zach Cregger, Roy Lee, Victor Hadida, Asad Qizilbash, and Carter Swan.
Oliver Berben, Richard Wright, and Robert Bernacci are the executive producers. Principal photography began in Prague in October 2025.
The new Resident Evil movie has not yet been rated by the Motion Picture Association (MPA).
The most recent Resident Evil installment was Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City, which opened in theaters in November 2021 and grossed $41.9 million worldwide. An eight-episode Netflix series was also released in July 2022.
