Netflix Shares First Look at Richard Linklater’s Nouvelle Vague
Today, Netflix is sharing a first look at Richard Linklater’s Nouvelle Vague, which is scheduled to open in select U.S. theaters on October 31, 2025, and will then be available to stream on Netflix on November 14.
Nouvelle Vague is Oscar-nominated director Richard Linklater’s love letter to the spellbinding magic of French cinema, reimagining the making of Jean-Luc Godard’s revolutionary Breathless, which ultimately cemented Godard as a pioneer of the French New Wave.

As critic-turned-director Godard makes and breaks the rules, a mix of fresh faces and daring talents — including Zoey Deutch as Jean Seberg, Aubry Dullin as Jean-Paul Belmondo, and Guillaume Marbeck as Godard himself — bring his spontaneous, electric film to life.
Capturing the youthful dynamism and creative chaos at the heart of one of the world’s most beloved and influential movies, Nouvelle Vague transports us to the streets of 1959 Paris for an ode to the power of cinema to transform our lives.

Holly Gent, Vincent Palmo Jr., Michèle Halberstadt, and Laetitia Masson wrote the film, which is produced by Laurent Pétin, Michèle Pétin (Halberstadt).
David Chambille is the director of photography, Katia Wyszkop is the production designer, Pascaline Chavanne is the costume designer, Turid Follvik is the makeup artist, Franck-Pascal Alquinet is the hair stylist, and Catherine Schwartz is the editor.

Richard Linklater’s films include the Before trilogy, Slacker, Dazed and Confused, Waking Life, School of Rock, A Scanner Darkly, Boyhood, Apollo 10½: A Space Age Childhood, Hit Man, and Blue Moon.
Linklater has received five Academy Award nominations and won the Silver Bear for Best Director for Before Sunrise. He also won a Golden Globe Award for directing Boyhood.
