Michael Movie Reveals New Trailer and Poster
Lionsgate has revealed the new trailer and poster for the upcoming Michael movie, which will bring audiences a riveting and honest portrayal of the brilliant yet complicated man who became the King of Pop.
Rated PG-13 by the Motion Picture Association (MPA) for some thematic material, language, and smoking, the movie will open in theaters and IMAX on April 24, 2026.

In November 2026, the teaser for the Michael movie, produced by Graham King and directed by Antoine Fuqua, generated a record 116.2 million views globally in its first 24 hours. The teaser was the largest 24-hour trailer debut in Lionsgate history and the most-viewed trailer for any music biopic in film history.
The film presents Michael Jackson’s triumphs and tragedies on an epic, cinematic scale — from his human side and personal struggles to his undeniable creative genius, exemplified by his most iconic performances. As never before, audiences will experience an inside look at one of the most influential and trailblazing artists the world has ever known.

Directed by Antoine Fuqua, the movie stars Jaafar Jackson as Michael Jackson, Nia Long as Katherine Jackson, Miles Teller as John Branca, and Colman Domingo as Joe Jackson. The producers include Graham King, John Branca, and John McClain.
“With Jaafar, every look, every note, every dance move is Michael,” said producer Graham King previously. “He embodies Michael in a way that no other actor could.”

Director Antoine Fuqua added, “We have assembled an incredible team of artists for this project – hair & makeup, costumes, cinematography, choreography, lighting, everything – and some who knew and worked with Michael are reuniting for this film.
“But most importantly, it’s Jaafar who embodies Michael. It goes beyond the physical resemblance. It’s Michael’s spirit that comes through in a magical way. You have to experience it to believe it.”

Jackson’s nephew, Jaafar Jackson, will be introduced to worldwide audiences in the starring role of the beloved musical icon.
Lionsgate is distributing the film domestically, while Universal Pictures International will handle all territories apart from Japan, which Lionsgate will oversee.
