Live-Action Scooby-Doo Revealed for Origins Series

Today, Netflix invited the world to meet Scooby-Doo with a social asset that shows how Scooby-Doo: Origins will bring the iconic character to life in live action. This marks the first time in the Scooby-Doo franchise that the character of Scooby-Doo will be portrayed by a real dog.

The series, which is currently in production in Atlanta, Georgia, is set to premiere globally on Netflix in 2027.

The previously announced cast includes Mckenna Grace as “Daphne Blake,” Tanner Hagen as “Shaggy Rogers,” Abby Ryder Fortson as “Velma Dinkley,” Maxwell Jenkins as “Fred Jones,” and Paul Walter Hauser.

A modern reimagining of the iconic mystery-solving group of teens and their very special dog. During their final summer at camp, old friends Shaggy and Daphne get embroiled in a haunting mystery involving a lonely, lost Great Dane puppy that may have witnessed a supernatural murder.

Together with the pragmatic and scientific townie, Velma, and the strange, but ever so handsome new kid, Freddy, they set out to solve the case that is pulling each of them into a creepy nightmare that threatens to expose all of their secrets.

Josh Appelbaum and Scott Rosenberg (via Midnight Radio) (High Fidelity, Everything Sucks!) are the showrunners, writers, and executive producers. Warner Bros. Television is the studio behind the series.

The executive producers also include Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, and Leigh London Redman via Berlanti Productions and its overall deal with Warner Bros. Television, André Nemec, Jeff Pinkner, and Adrienne Erickson via Midnight Radio, and director Toby Haynes.
