Hamnet to Begin Streaming on Peacock March 6
Peacock announced today that Hamnet, which is Certified Fresh with a 93% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, begins streaming on March 6. Directed by two-time Academy Award-winning director Chloé Zhao, the film tells the untold story behind one of Shakespeare’s most memorable works and celebrates the power of imagination and the creative spirit.
Based on the New York Times best-selling novel, Hamnet stars Jessie Buckley, in her Golden Globe and BAFTA Award-winning role, alongside Paul Mescal, Emily Watson, Joe Alwyn, Noah Jupe, and more.

In the film, William Shakespeare (Mescal) falls for the free-spirited Agnes (Buckley). Their whirlwind romance leads to marriage and three children, but as Will’s theatrical ambitions draw him to London, Agnes remains behind to manage the household.
When tragedy strikes, their bond is deeply tested—but their remarkable journey ultimately inspires the creation of Shakespeare’s timeless masterpiece, Hamlet.

Hamnet won two Golden Globe Awards for Best Motion Picture Drama and Best Actress Drama, as well as two BAFTA Awards for Outstanding British Film and Best Leading Actress.
The film is also nominated for eight Academy Awards, including for Best Picture, Best Director, Actress in a Leading Role, Adapted Screenplay, Costume Design, Achievement in Casting, Original Score, and Production Design.

Hamnet was written by Chloé Zhao and Maggie O’Farrell. The producers include Liza Marshall, Pippa Harris, Nicolas Gonda, Steven Spielberg, and Sam Mendes.
With a runtime of 125 minutes, the movie was rated PG-13 by the Motion Picture Association (MPA) for thematic content, some strong sexuality, and partial nudity.

Peacock subscribers get access to award-winning films and blockbuster favorites from Universal Pictures, Blumhouse, Focus Features, Illumination, and DreamWorks Animation, often accompanied by bonus features, extended cuts, and unrated versions.
In addition to Hamnet, members can catch up on this year’s awards‑season standouts exclusively on Peacock, including Focus Features’ Academy Award‑nominated Bugonia and Song Sung Blue.
