Apple Announces Second Seasons of Greatness Code and Make or Break

Apple has announced the second seasons of the documentary series Greatness Code and Make or Break. Both series are highlighted in the “A Legendary Lineup” commercial below, along with They Call Me Magic and The Long Game: Bigger Than Basketball.

Greatness Code is a short-form sports docuseries that unveils what drives the world’s greatest athletes to succeed. Co-produced by UNINTERRUPTED and Religion of Sports and directed by Religion of Sports co-founder Gotham Chopra, all six episodes of the show’s second season will premiere globally on May 13, 2022, on Apple TV+.

Greatness Code and Make or Break

In Greatness Code, iconic athletes pull back the curtain on a pivotal career moment when they touched greatness. A stylized hybrid of live-action and visual effects, this short-form docuseries sheds new light on the sports legends you thought you knew.

The accomplished athletes featured in six brand-new installments of season two include:

Marcus Rashford: English professional footballer and children’s campaigner.

Russell Wilson: Super Bowl champion NFL quarterback who has played in nine Pro Bowls.

Leticia Bufoni: Six-time X Games gold medalist and professional street skateboarder.

Scout Bassett: Parapan American track and field champion.

Bubba Wallace: First African-American driver to win a race in NASCAR’s premier series since 1963.

Lindsey Vonn: Four-time World Cup champion alpine ski racer, Olympic gold medal winner, author, and entrepreneur.

Greatness Code was produced for Apple by Religion of Sports and UNINTERRUPTED. Each episode is directed by Gotham Chopra, who executive produces with Ameeth Sankaran, Giselle Parets, and UNINTERRUPTED’s Maverick Carter, Jamal Henderson, Devin Johnson and Philip Byron, and co-executive producer Matt Rissmiller.

Make or Break is the new seven-part documentary series that delivers behind-the-scenes access to the world’s best surfers as they battle for the world title at the World Surf League (WSL) Championship Tour. Production is currently underway for the second season, while the first season will debut on Friday, April 29.

The series offers an intimate deep dive into the aspirations, challenges, accomplishments, and personal lives of the surfers who compete to remain on the elite 2021 Men’s and Women’s WSL Championship Tour, and takes viewers on a journey to stunning surfing locations across the globe.

Make or Break follows the 2021 competition, navigating as the league responds to the global pandemic while exploring the dynamic surfing culture along with timely issues, including diversity, mental health, and the physical impact of the sport.

Each episode in the seven-part first season of the series spotlights internationally recognized surfers and features never-before-seen interviews with:

11-time world champion and 56-time career victory winner Kelly Slater.

Seven-time world champion Stephanie Gilmore.

Three-time world champion Gabriel Medina.

Two-time world champion Tyler Wright.

2019 World Champion and Olympic gold medalist Italo Ferreira.

2021 Olympian Tatiana Weston-Webb.

Additional notable surfers featured in Make or Break include Morgan Cibilic, Johanne Defay, Leonardo Fioravanti, Jeremy Flores, John John Florence, Filipe Toledo, Kanoa Igarashi, Matt McGillivray, Isabella Nichols and Jack Robinson.

The docuseries is produced for Apple by Box to Box Films in partnership with the WSL. Executive producers are Oscar and BAFTA winner James Gay-Rees (Exit Through the Gift Shop, Amy), BAFTA nominee Paul Martin (Formula 1: Drive to Survive), and WSL CEO Erik Logan and Ryan Holcomb.
