Sony Pictures has revealed the official teaser trailer for Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, the highly anticipated follow-up to Ghostbusters: Afterlife.
Directed by Gil Kenan from a script by Jason Reitman and Kenan, Frozen Empire is scheduled to hit theaters on March 22, 2024. Reitman directed Afterlife.
In Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, the Spengler family returns to where it all started — the iconic New York City firehouse — to team up with the original Ghostbusters, who’ve developed a top-secret research lab to take busting ghosts to the next level.
But when the discovery of an ancient artifact unleashes an evil force, Ghostbusters new and old must join forces to protect their home and save the world from a second Ice Age.
The cast includes Paul Rudd, Carrie Coon, Finn Wolfhard, Mckenna Grace, Kumail Nanjiani, Patton Oswalt, Celeste O’Connor, Logan Kim, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, and Annie Potts. As you can see in the trailer, Bill Murray makes an appearance as well.
Based on the 1984 film Ghostbusters, the Sony Pictures release is produced by Jason Reitman and Jason Blumenfeld. The executive producers are Dan Aykroyd, JoAnn Perritano, Amie Karp, Eric Reich, and Erica Mills.
Ghostbusters: Afterlife was released in theaters on November 19, 2021 and grossed $204.3 million worldwide, with $129.4 million coming from North America and $74.9 million from international markets.
