Today, Amazon MGM Studios announced that Anna Kendrick, Blake Lively, Henry Golding, Andrew Rannells, Bashir Salahuddin, Joshua Satine, Ian Ho, and Kelly McCormack are set to reprise their roles in A Simple Favor 2, with Paul Feig returning to direct.
The sequel is a co-production with Lionsgate and follows the studio’s 2018 release of A Simple Favor, which was a critical and commercial success. It earned more than $97 million at the worldwide box office and achieved Certified Fresh status on Rotten Tomatoes.
The script for A Simple Favor 2, based on characters by Darcy Bell, was written by Jessica Sharzer, who wrote the first film, with revisions by Laeta Kalogridis and Paul Feig.
Feigco Entertainment’s Paul Feig and Laura Fischer are producing A Simple Favor 2, with Jessica Sharzer executive producing.
In the new movie, we see the return of Stephanie Smothers (Anna Kendrick) and Emily Nelson (Blake Lively) as they head to the beautiful island of Capri, Italy, for Emily’s extravagant wedding to a rich Italian businessman. Along with the glamorous guests, expect murder and betrayal to RSVP for a wedding with more twists and turns than the road from the Marina Grande to the Capri town square.
The film is targeting a spring start of production and will be available to stream on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide.
