Netflix has revealed the full cast for Zack Snyder’s upcoming Army of the Dead, which will start filming in July. The Army of the Dead cast includes Ella Purnell (Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, Sweetbitter), Ana De La Reguera (Everything, Everything, Goliath), Theo Rossi (Luke Cage, Sons of Anarchy), Huma Qureshi (Kaala, Viceroy’s House, Gangs of Wasseypur, Badlapur), and Dave Bautista (Avengers: Endgame, Stuber, My Spy).
In Army of the Dead, a group of mercenaries take the ultimate gamble in Las Vegas: venturing into a quarantine zone following a zombie outbreak to pull off the greatest heist ever attempted.
Snyder will direct and produce the zombie horror thriller with his partner and wife, Deborah Snyder, via their rebranded production company, Stone Quarry. The company’s Wesley Coller is also producing. Snyder came up with the story for the film, which has a script by Joby Harold and Zack Snyder & Shay Hatten.
Originally a Warner Bros. Pictures project, the movie’s budget could reach $90 million.
“There are no handcuffs on me at all with this one,” Snyder said previously. “I thought this was a good palate cleanser to really dig in with both hands and make something fun and epic and crazy and bonkers in the best possible way. I love to honor canon and the works of art, but this is the opportunity to find a purely joyful way to express myself though a genre. It will be the most kick-ass, self-aware — but not in a wink-to-the-camera way — balls-to-the-wall zombie freakshow that anyone has ever seen. No one’s ever let me completely loose [like this].”
Snyder launched his feature directorial career with the hit 2004 film Dawn of the Dead. He has since directed such high-profile pics as 300, Watchmen, Man of Steel, and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
