Zachary Levi to Star in The Unbreakable Boy

Kingdom Story Company and Lionsgate announced today that Zachary Levi will star in the project The Unbreakable Boy. The film will be distributed wide by Lionsgate.

Jon Gunn (co-writer/executive producer of I Still Believe) has written and is directing the film based on the book (check price at Amazon) by Scott M. LeRette with Susy Flory.

The Erwin Brothers (Jon Erwin and Andrew Erwin) and Kevin Downes will produce through their Kingdom Story Company banner. Jerilyn Esquibel and Peter Facinelli will also produce.

The film will enter production shortly and be the next film from Kingdom Story Company. Levi will then segue into the Erwin Brothers’ American Underdog: The Kurt Warner Story, which will begin production next year.

Meredith Wieck & Chelsea Kujawa are overseeing The Unbreakable Boy for Lionsgate. The project is officially described as follows:

“You’ve never met a kid like Austin. He’s not just one in a million… he’s one in four billion – the odds of being born with both a rare brittle-bone disease and autism.

“But what makes Austin truly unique is his joyous, funny, life-affirming worldview that transforms and unites everyone around him – especially his dad, Scott (Zachary Levi), who changes his life as he comes to see Austin not as the symbol of something broken, but the triumph of an indestructible spirit.

“To meet Austin is to know that being ‘unbreakable’ is not about physical strength, but inner strength. It’s about embracing love and grace, even in the most trying times. The Unbreakable Boy is an inspirational true story from Kingdom Story Company and the producers of I Can Only Imagine and I Still Believe.”

Zachary Levi will next star opposite Jodie Foster and Benedict Cumberbatch in Kevin Macdonald’s upcoming untitled film (previously titled Prisoner 760) and in Richard Linklater’s Apollo 10½.

He is set to play two-time MVP and Hall of Famer Kurt Warner in Kingdom Story Company’s American Underdog: The Kurt Warner Story, which will be distributed by Lionsgate, and opposite Cole Sprouse in Lionsgate’s Under Cover. He will also reprise his role as Shazam in Shazam! Fury of the Gods.
