You Should Have Left Trailer with Kevin Bacon and Amanda Seyfried

Universal Pictures has released the trailer for Blumhouse Productions’ new psychological thriller You Should Have Left, starring Kevin Bacon and Amanda Seyfried. The movie will be available in North America on premium on-demand digital everywhere beginning Friday, June 19, 2020.

You Should Have Left was written and directed by David Koepp, who previously directed Bacon in 1999’s Stir of Echoes and who also helmed The Trigger Effect, Secret Window, Ghost Town, Premium Rush, and Mortdecai.

In the film, Kevin Bacon and Amanda Seyfried play a couple seeking a restful vacation on an isolated edge of the world only to discover that secrets demand a reckoning… and travel with you. In this terrifying, mind-twisting tale, a father fights desperately to save his family from a beautiful home that refuses to let them leave.

Theo Conroy (Bacon) is a successful middle-aged man whose marriage to his much younger actress wife, Susanna (Seyfried) is shredding at the seams, frayed by her secretiveness, his jealousy, and the shadow of his past.

In an effort to repair their relationship, Theo and Susanna book a vacation at a stunning, remote modern home in the Welsh countryside for themselves and their six-year-old daughter, Ella (Avery Essex).

What at first seems like a perfect retreat distorts into a perfect nightmare when Theo’s grasp on reality begins to unravel and he suspects that a sinister force within the house knows more than he or Susanna have revealed, even to each other.

Based on the novel (buy at Amazon) by best-selling German literary sensation Daniel Kehlmann (Measuring the World), You Should Have Left is produced by Jason Blum (The Purge and Halloween franchises), Kevin Bacon and Dean O’Toole (Walk Like a Panther), and is executive produced by Jeanette Volturno, Couper Samuelson and Derek Ambrosi.

Daniel Kehlmann’s works have won the Candide Prize, the Hölderlin Prize, the Kleist Prize, the Welt Literature Prize, and the Thomas Mann Prize. He was a fellow at the Dorothy and Lewis B. Cullman Center for Scholars and Writers at the New York Public Library in 2016–17.

David Koepp’s writing credits include Carlito’s Way, Mission: Impossible, Jurassic Park, The Lost World: Jurassic Park, Spider-Man (2002), War of the Worlds, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, Angels & Demons, and Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit.

You Should Have Left has been rated R by the MPA for some violence, disturbing images, sexual content and language.

Blumhouse Productions has been behind such films as BlacKkKlansman, Get Out, The Gift, Halloween, Happy Death Day, Insidious, Paranormal Activity, The Purge, Sinister, Split, Upgrade, and The Invisible Man, and Whiplash.

In 2019, Kevin Bacon appeared in SMILF, City on a Hill, and Live in Front of a Studio Audience. Amanda Seyfried most recently was the voice of Daphne in SCOOB! and starred in last year’s The Art of Racing in the Rain.
