Witcher Season 3 Filming Begins and Synopsis

Today, Netflix announced that The Witcher Season 3 has started filming and revealed the photo you can view below. The streaming service has also released the synopsis for The Witcher Season 3.

“As monarchs, mages, and beasts of the Continent compete to capture her, Geralt takes Ciri of Cintra into hiding, determined to protect his newly reunited family against those who threaten to destroy it,” Netflix described.

They continued: “Entrusted with Ciri’s magical training, Yennefer leads them to the protected fortress of Aretuza, where she hopes to discover more about the girl’s untapped powers; instead, they discover they’ve landed in a battlefield of political corruption, dark magic, and treachery.

“They must fight back, put everything on the line – or risk losing each other forever.”

Witcher Season 3

The third season, which consists of eight episodes, launched on the streaming service on December 17, 2021.

In the second season, convinced Yennefer’s (Anya Chalotra) life was lost at the Battle of Sodden, Geralt of Rivia (Henry Cavill) brings Princess Cirilla (Freya Allan) to the safest place he knows, his childhood home of Kaer Morhen.

While the Continent’s kings, elves, humans, and demons strive for supremacy outside its walls, he must protect the girl from something far more dangerous: the mysterious power she possesses inside.

Joey Batey (Knightfall, Strike) returned as fan-favorite Jaskier.

Joining The Witcher series for its second season were Kim Bodnia (Killing Eve) as Vesemir, the Continent’s oldest and most experienced Witcher, Yasen Atour (Young Wallender) as Coen, Agnes Bjorn as Vereena, and Paul Bullion (Peaky Blinders) as Lambert.

The new cast members were rounded out by Basil Eidenbenz (Victoria) as Eskel, Aisha Fabienne Ross (The Danish Girl) as Lydia, Kristofer Hivju (Game of Thrones) as Nivellen, and recent graduate Mecia Simson as Francesca.

Other returning cast members included MyAnna Buring (Kill List) as Tissaia, Tom Canton (Good Karma Hospital) as Filavandrel, Lilly Cooper (Peterloo) as Murta, Jeremy Crawford (Titans) as Yarpin Zigrin, Eamon Farren (Twin Peaks) as Cahir, and Mahesh Jadu (Marco Polo) as Vilgefortz.

Also back were Terence Maynard (Cursed) as Artorius, Lars Mikkelson (House of Cards) as Stregobor, Mimi Ndiweni (Black Earth Rising) as Fringilla Vigo, Royce Pierreson (Judy) as Istredd, Wilson Radjou-Pujalte (Hunter Street) as Dara, Anna Shaffer (Harry Potter) as Triss Merigold, and Therica Wilson Read (Young Wallender) as Sabrina.

Based on the best-selling fantasy series of books, The Witcher series is an epic tale of fate and family. Geralt of Rivia, a solitary monster hunter, struggles to find his place in a world where people often prove more wicked than beasts.

But when destiny hurtles him toward a powerful sorceress and a young princess with a dangerous secret, the three must learn to navigate the increasingly volatile Continent together.
