Bleecker Street has released the trailer and poster for Wild Mountain Thyme, which will open in theaters and be available On Demand December 11, 2020.
The film was written for the screen and directed by John Patrick Shanley. It is based on the play Outside Mullingar by Shanley.
John Patrick Shanley, who created the classic Moonstruck, brings his sweeping romantic vision to Ireland with Wild Mountain Thyme.
The headstrong farmer Rosemary Muldoon (Emily Blunt) has her heart set on winning her neighbor Anthony Reilly’s love. The problem is Anthony (Jamie Dornan) seems to have inherited a family curse, and remains oblivious to his beautiful admirer.
Stung by his father Tony’s (Christopher Walken) plans to sell the family farm to his American nephew (Jon Hamm), Anthony is jolted into pursuing his dreams in this comedic, moving and wildly romantic tale.
Wild Mountain Thyme is produced by Leslie Urdang, Anthony Bregman, Alex Witchel, Martina Niland, Michael A. Helfant, and Bradley Gallo.
The movie was filmed in Ireland and New York in the summer of 2019. It will feature the song “Wild Mountain Thyme,” written by Francis McPeake and Robert Tannahill.
“Shanley’s language, humor and heart are treasures that always surprise, enlighten and entertain us,” said Leslie Urdang and Alex Witchel previously. “By creating such specific, idiosyncratic characters… he manages to make the world feel bigger and more hopeful. Certainly more romantic.”
