VanCamp and Brühl May Return for The Falcon and The Winter Soldier Series

-

The director of the six-part The Falcon and The Winter Soldier series and new casting have been revealed. According to Deadline, the Disney+ series will be directed by Kari Skogland, the Emmy-nominated, BAFTA award-winning director, showrunner and CEO of Mad Rabbit. Her credits include episodes of The Handmaid’s TaleNOS4A2The Rook, The Loudest VoiceThe Walking Dead and much more.

The site adds that, in addition to Avengers: Endgame‘s Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan starring in the series, it looks like Captain America: Civil War‘s Emily VanCamp and Daniel Brühl may reprise their roles for The Falcon and The Winter Soldier. Brühl’s character Zemo drove a wedge between Captain America and Iron Man, while VanCamp played Sharon Carter in both Civil War and Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

The miniseries is targeting an August 2020 launch on the streaming service. Malcolm Spellman is writing the series featuring the two superheroes.

Other Marvel Studios shows coming to Disney+ are WandaVision, featuring Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff and Paul Bettany as The Vision, and a show about Tom Hiddleston’s Loki.

They are also developing Marvel’s What If…?, the first animated series from Marvel Studios, taking inspiration from the comic books of the same name. Each episode will explore a pivotal moment from the Marvel Cinematic Universe and turn it on its head, leading the audience into uncharted territory.

And two non-scripted series are in the works as well. Documentary series Marvel 616 explores the historical, cultural, and societal context that has become congruous with Marvel’s legacy stories. And Marvel’s Hero Project shares the inspiring stories of young kids who dedicate their lives to being true Super Heroes and making positive change in their communities.
