Top Gun: Maverick Cast Adds Glen Powell

Glen Powell (Netflix‘s Set It Up), who was previously in contention for the role of Goose’s son, has joined the Top Gun: Maverick cast in another role, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The trade says that details of Powell’s role are being kept under wraps for now.

Tom Cruise will again headline the Paramount Pictures and Skydance Productions film as Maverick. Miles Teller (Only the BraveWhiplash) landed the role of Goose’s (Anthony Edwards) son in the sequel, while Jennifer Connelly (upcoming Alita: Battle AngelOnly the BraveA Beautiful Mind) is playing a single mother who runs a local bar near the Navy base.

Val Kilmer is expected to return as  Tom “Iceman” Kazansky as well.

Tom Cruise is reteaming with his Oblivion director Joseph Kosinski for the film, which will be produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, Cruise, and Skydance’s David Ellison. Top Gun: Maverick is scheduled to be released in theaters on July 12, 2019.
