There’s one more Superman joining the Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover coming to The CW later this year. According to EW, Tom Welling will reprise his Smallville role of Clark Kent for the anticipated Arrowverse episodes, which means so far there will be three Supermen.
“For eight years, Arrow has stood on the shoulders of Smallville. Simply put, there would be no Arrow, and no Arrowverse, without it,” executive producer Marc Guggenheim said in a statement. “So when we first started talking about Crisis on Infinite Earths, our first, second and third priorities were getting Tom to reprise his iconic role as Clark Kent. To say that we’re thrilled would be a Superman-sized understatement.”
In addition to Tom Welling, Tyler Hoechlin will return as the Arrowverse’s Superman, and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow star Brandon Routh will also return as the Superman from Superman Returns. Routh will wear a costume inspired by Alex Ross’ Kingdom Come design.
Welling played the role of a young Clark Kent on Smallville for 10 seasons. The character finally donned the Superman costume in the series finale.
The CW will present Crisis on Infinite Earths across five different episodes of the network’s hit superhero series and spanning two quarters (December 2019 and January 2020). The Crisis on Infinite Earths dates are as follows (some series are airing outside of their regular time period):
