The Vision and Scarlet Witch Series Gets Writer and Showrunner

Upcoming Disney+ series The Vision and Scarlet Witch has landed a writer and showrunner. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Marvel Studios series has hired Jac Schaeffer to serve as both writer and executive producer of the pilot. Schaeffer is one of the writers behind the studio’s upcoming Captain Marvel movie.

Paul Bettany and Elizabeth Olson are expected to reprise their roles from the big screen Avengers movies.

In addition to working on Captain Marvel, Schaeffer also wrote the screenplay for the Black Widow movie, which will star Scarlett Johansson is expected to start shooting later this year.

For Disney+, Marvel Studios is also working on a Loki series, which has Tom Hiddleston returning, and a team up of Falcon and the Winter Soldier, who are played by Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan in the film. Malcolm Spellman (Empire) is writing the latter series.

Each series is expected to include six to eight episodes. Marvel Studios will produce the shows and Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige is involved in the development.

The Disney streaming service, which the company says will cost less than Netflix, is expected to debut in late 2019. Other projects in the works for the service include the live-action Star Wars series The Mandalorian and Cassian Andor, the return of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, a High School Musical series, a live-action/CG hybrid Lady and the Tramp, and more.
