Netflix has revealed the trailer for The Last Thing He Wanted, directed by Dee Rees (Mudbound) and coming to the streaming service on February 21.
The cast of the political thriller is lead by Academy Award winner Anne Hathaway (Les Misérables, Ocean’s 8), Academy Award winner Ben Affleck (Argo, Good Will Hunting, Gone Girl), and Academy Award nominee Willem Dafoe (The Florida Project).
The film also stars Emmy Award nominee Toby Jones (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, Infamous, Journey’s End), Academy Award nominee Rosie Perez (Bounty Hunters, Fearless, White Men Can’t Jump), Drama Desk and Obie Award winner Edi Gathegi (Jesus Hopped the A Train), and Mel Rodriguez (The Last Man on Earth, Overboard, Philip K. Dick’s Electric Dreams).
In The Last Thing He Wanted, veteran D.C. journalist (Hathaway) loses the thread of her own narrative when a guilt-propelled errand for her father (Dafoe) thrusts her from byline to unwitting subject in the very story she’s trying to break.
Academy Award nominee Dee Rees directs her adaptation of Joan Didion’s namesake novel (buy at Amazon). Rees wrote the script with Marco Villalobos. The producers are Cassian Elwes and Rees, and the executive producers are Jamin O’Brien, Wayne Godfrey, Robert Jones, Mark Lane and James Harris.
