Warner Bros. Pictures and Sony Pictures has made numerous updates to their release schedules today. On the move are The Batman, Black Adam, Dune, The Flash, the next Matrix movie, Minecraft, Monster Hunter, Shazam! Fury of the Gods, and more.

Below, we’ve listed the movies by their new release dates and you can read more about each title. Warner Bros. has also set two new event films for June 3, 2022 and August 5, 2022, but there is no additional information about those projects yet.

The Kid Detective

The Kid Detective (Oct. 16, 2020)

Written and directed by Evan Morgan, Sony’s The Kid Detective stars Adam Brody and features supporting performances from Sophie Nélisse, Tzi Ma, and Sarah Sutherland. The film is produced by William Woods of Woods Entertainment and Jonathan Bronfman of JoBro Productions. Morgan is best known as the co-writer, producer and editor of the breakout indie film The Dirties, which won the Grand Jury Prize at Slamdance.

The Kid Detective further demonstrates his darkly humorous sensibility, and showcases a career turning performance from Adam Brody as a once celebrated child detective, now in his early thirties, who continues to solve the same trivial mysteries between hangovers and bouts of self-pity. That’s until a naïve client (Sophie Nélisse) brings him his first ‘adult’ case – to find out who brutally murdered her boyfriend.

Monster Hunter (Dec. 30, 2020)

Sony Pictures has moved up writer and director Paul W.S. Anderson’s Monster Hunter from April 23, 2021 to December 30, 2020. The film stars Milla Jovovich, Tony Jaa, Tip ‘T.I.’ Harris, Meagan Good, Diego Boneta, Josh Helman, Jin Au-Yeung and Ron Perlman.

Behind our world, there is another: a world of dangerous and powerful monsters that rule their domain with deadly ferocity. When an unexpected sandstorm transports Captain Artemis (Milla Jovovich) and her unit (TI Harris, Meagan Good, Diego Boneta) to a new world, the soldiers are shocked to discover that this hostile and unknown environment is home to enormous and terrifying monsters immune to their firepower.

In their desperate battle for survival, the unit encounters the mysterious Hunter (Tony Jaa), whose unique skills allow him to stay one step ahead of the powerful creatures. As Artemis and Hunter slowly build trust, she discovers that he is part of a team led by the Admiral (Ron Perlman). Facing a danger so great it could threaten to destroy their world, the brave warriors combine their unique abilities to band together for the ultimate showdown.

The film is based on the global video game series phenomenon Monster Hunter.

Dune (Oct. 1, 2021)

Warner Bros. Pictures is pushing back the Dune movie from December 18, 2020 to October 1, 2021. The big-screen adaptation of Frank Herbert’s seminal bestseller is directed by Oscar nominee Denis Villeneuve (Arrival, Blade Runner 2049).

A mythic and emotionally charged hero’s journey, Dune tells the story of Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet), a brilliant and gifted young man born into a great destiny beyond his understanding, who must travel to the most dangerous planet in the universe to ensure the future of his family and his people.

As malevolent forces explode into conflict over the planet’s exclusive supply of the most precious resource in existence — a commodity capable of unlocking humanity’s greatest potential — only those who can conquer their fear will survive.

The film also stars Rebecca Ferguson, Oscar Isaac, Stellan Skarsgård, Dave Bautista, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Zendaya, David Dastmalchian, Chang Chen, Sharon Duncan-Brewster, with Oscar nominee Charlotte Rampling, with Jason Momoa, and Oscar winner Javier Bardem.
