The 100 Season 7 Will Wrap Up the Series

-

The CW announced today at the Television Critics Association’s summer press tour that The 100 Season 7 will also be the final season. Creator Jason Rothenberg said they want to wrap up the show on their own terms with the final 16 episodes.

“With The 100 Season 6 finale just days away, I have some bittersweet news to share: Season 7 will be our last,” Rothenberg said. “We are eternally grateful to WB & CW for always allowing us to tell our story the way we want to & to wrap the show on our terms. What an incredible ride this has been!”

The announcement means that The 100 will join Arrow and Supernatural as shows ending during The CW’s 2019-2020 broadcast season. It also means that The 100 will end with 100 episodes, which is just about perfect.

Based on the book series (buy the complete set) by Kass Morgan, The 100 is from Bonanza Productions Inc. in association with Alloy Entertainment, Warner Bros. Television and CBS Television Studios with executive producers Jason Rothenberg and Leslie Morgenstein (The Vampire Diaries).

Ninety-seven years ago, nuclear Armageddon decimated planet Earth, destroying civilization. The only survivors were the 400 inhabitants of 12 international space stations that were in orbit at the time. Three generations have been born in space, the survivors now number 4,000, and resources are running out on their dying “Ark” – the 12 stations now linked together and repurposed to keep the survivors alive. Draconian measures including capital punishment and population control are the order of the day, as the leaders of the Ark take ruthless steps to ensure their future, including secretly exiling a group of 100 juvenile prisoners to the Earth’s surface to test whether it’s habitable.
