Sundance Now October 2020 Slate Revealed


Sundance Now has announced the movies and TV series that are coming to the AMC Networks-owned streaming service in October. The Sundance Now October 2020 lineup features the U.S. debut of ITV‘s highest-rated new drama of 2020, the bone-chilling true crime drama Des, starring David Tennant as the infamous serial killer Dennis Nilsen.

Also included is the streaming debut of steamy legal drama The Split and the intriguing new docuseries The Dakota Entrapment Tapes. The Sundance Now October 2020 schedule also features the finales of One Lane Bridge and We Got This.

THE SPLIT, Season 2 Episode 1 (Streaming Premiere)
Season two delves back into the world of high-flying family of lawyers, where Hannah Stern (Nicola Walker, MI-5, River) is busy negotiating complex divorce cases whilst being confronted by difficulties in her own family.

WE GOT THIS, Episode 5 (Sundance Now Exclusive)
Another episode of the darkly comedic conspiracy thriller. A choice between a new lead that raises more questions than answers and an extremely risky plan that could likely crack the Palme case wide open causes divisions within the group. Desperate to save his marriage, George (creator and star Schiaffino Musarra, The Man with the Red Horn) goes it alone, diving headfirst into his most absurd idea yet. Van der Graff’s call for backup has George, Alex, Eva and Björn all in the cross hairs as legendary closer Elmer de Kant swoops in the eliminate this gang of investigators once and for all.

ONE LANE BRIDGE, Episode 3 (Sundance Now Exclusive)
Another episode of the supernatural crime thriller. The community comes together to bury the dead. Ariki’s (Dominic Ona-Ariki, The Commons) suspicions grow that Stephen’s wheelchair-bound wife, Lois, is somehow involved in the case. When Ariki gets an alarming visitation, he distracts himself with a hedonistic bender. Frustrated with the investigation’s lack of progress, the locals deal out with vigilante justice of their own.

David Tennant (Doctor Who, Broadchurch, Good Omens) stars in a bone-chilling true-crime drama focusing on one of the most infamous serial killers in UK history – Dennis Nilsen. Known as the ‘kindly killer’, Nilsen was a local civil servant who spent five years murdering boys and young men he met on the streets of Soho from 1978 to 1983. He would meet and befriend these men before offering them food or lodgings for the evening back at his North London flat. When he was finally caught on 9 February 1983, Nilsen had murdered a total of fifteen men over a period of five years, making him Britain’s most prolific serial killer of the time. Des delves into the mind of one of the most emotionally elusive serial killers the world has ever seen. Can we ever really understand the mind of a psychopathic killer? Hannah’s personal and professional lives collide as Christie’s anger mounts.

Ariki’s heroics are rewarded when he’s reinstated at work. The Ryders celebrate a hundred years on the farm, but the festivities are cut short when the guest of honor goes missing. A poignant confession provides much-needed closure for the town.

As Brian’s sessions give Des the opportunity to analyze and confront the possible reasons for his crimes, he considers the prospect that he may not be guilty of murder after all.

Reeling from Des’ change in plea, Jay and the police throw themselves into proving premeditation. If they can show the court that Des was undoubtedly of sound mind when he committed his crimes, he will go down and never be released. If they fail, Des could get a cushier sentence on diminished responsibility and effectively escape justice. As the trial begins and the defense start to tear strips off key witnesses, Jay and his team are shocked by just how flimsy their case against Nilsen seems.
