Starz has announced the movie and TV titles coming to the service in September. The Starz September 2022 schedule includes the premiere of The Serpent Queen and new episodes of Power Book III: Raising Kanan.
The Serpent Queen, starring Golden Globe winner, two-time Academy Award and two-time BAFTA Award-nominated actress Samantha Morton, premieres on Sunday, September 11 at midnight on the Starz app, all Starz streaming and on-demand platforms.
The premiere will be available internationally on the StarzPlay premium streaming platform across its complete footprint in Europe, Latin America, and Japan. On linear, the episode will debut on Starz at 8:00 PM ET/PT in the U.S. and Canada.
The Serpent Queen tells the story of Catherine de Medici (Samantha Morton), who, against all odds, became one of the most powerful and longest-serving rulers in French history. Catherine’s tale unfolds through flashbacks as she defends her actions and imparts the lessons she’s learned to her new servant girl, Rahima (Sennia Nanua).
At 14, the young, orphaned Catherine (Liv Hill) marries into the 16th-century French court. Despite her commoner status, her uncle Pope Clement (Charles Dance), has negotiated a large dowry and a geopolitical alliance in return for the union, and with it comes the expectation of many heirs. However, on her wedding night, Catherine learns that her new husband is in love with Diane de Poitiers (Ludivine Sagnier), a beautiful lady-in-waiting twice his age.
With her future suddenly uncertain and with little hope of conceiving, Catherine must quickly learn who she can trust – both within her personal entourage of courtiers and the members of the royal court – while outmaneuvering anyone who underestimates her determination to survive at any cost.
The Starz September 2022 lineup also includes new Power Book III: Raising Kanan Season 2 episodes, which will stream on Sundays on the Starz app and all Starz streaming and on-demand platforms.
Internationally, the episodes will stream on the StarzPlay premium streaming platform across the United Kingdom, Latin America, Brazil, Germany, Italy, Spain, and Switzerland. On linear, the episodes will debut on Starz at 9:00 PM ET/PT in the U.S. and Canada.
Raquel ‘Raq’ Thomas has gained control over the city’s drug trade, but her son is slipping away. Kanan Stark returns to Queens uncertain of his future with the family business, and because of Detective Howard’s lingering secret, he’s even more uncertain of his past.
Kanan searches for the truth while Raq boldly expands the business into hostile Mafia territory. Lou-Lou has other plans that revolve around his emerging record label, but Raq isn’t about to let his side hustle get in the way of her expansion.
Although Marvin remains Raq’s loyal soldier, he struggles to earn Jukebox’s forgiveness and become the father she deserves. The ties that bind this family are becoming undone, but Raq will stop at nothing to hold them together.
