Starz (start your free trial) has announced the movie and TV titles coming to the service in September. The Starz September 2021 schedule takes audiences back to the late ’80s with BMF premiering Sunday, September 26 on Starz across all platforms.
BMF is inspired by the true story of two brothers who rose from the decaying streets of southwest Detroit in the late 1980s and gave birth to one of the most influential crime families in this country.
Demetrius “Big Meech” Flenory’s charismatic leadership, Terry “Southwest T” Flenory’s business acumen and the fraternal partnership’s vision beyond the drug trade and into the world of hip-hop would render the brothers iconic on a global level. Their unwavering belief in family loyalty would be the cornerstone of their partnership and the crux of their eventual estrangement. This is a story about love, kinship and capitalism in the pursuit of the American dream.
BMF is executive produced by Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson (co-creator of the Power Universe, For Life), alongside showrunner, executive producer, writer and Detroit native Randy Huggins (Star, Rebel, Power). Tasha Smith (Empire, Power, Why Did I Get Married?) is set to direct multiple episodes and executive produce.
The Starz September 2021 lineup celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month by featuring Latinx voices on Starz linear and the Starz app September 15 through October 15, including one episode each weeknight of the STARZ Original series Vida at 10 PM ET/PT on STARZ Edge. Vida centers around two Mexican-American sisters from the Eastside of Los Angeles who couldn’t be more different or distanced from each other. Circumstances force them to return to their old neighborhood, where they are confronted by the past and surprising truth about their mother’s identity.
Starz is also moving The Spanish Princess Season 1 in front of its paywall and will be available the entire month of September for select domestic partners. Returning to the world of Tudor royal court intrigue, The Spanish Princess is a vivid and captivating story told uniquely from the point of view of the women, which also sheds light on a previously-untold corner of history: the lives of people of color, living and working in 16th century London.
