Spider-Man: Far From Home Swings to $66.3 Million in Two Days

-

Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios’ Spider-Man: Far From Home added $27 million domestically its second day, making it the biggest Wednesday gross of all time for any Marvel Cinematic Universe film and bringing its two-day total in North America to $66.3 million.

On opening day, the film took in $39.3 million at the domestic box office, which marked the biggest Tuesday opening of all time, surpassing the previous record of $35 million set by 2012’s The Amazing Spider-Man starring Andrew Garfield.

Sony is projecting that the film will make $125 million over the film’s first six days, but some estimates have that number being much higher. Far From Home was made for about $160 million.

Last weekend, the Spider-Man: Homecoming sequel launched in China, Japan and Hong Kong with an impressive $111 million.

Spider-Man: Homecoming opened in July of 2017 and grossed $880 million worldwide, with $334.2 million coming from North America and $545.9 million from overseas markets, including $116.3 million from China alone.

Peter Parker returns in Sony Pictures‘ Spider-Man: Far From Home, the next chapter of the Spider-Man: Homecoming series! Our friendly neighborhood Super Hero decides to join his best friends Ned, MJ, and the rest of the gang on a European vacation. However, Peter’s plan to leave super heroics behind for a few weeks are quickly scrapped when he begrudgingly agrees to help Nick Fury uncover the mystery of several elemental creature attacks, creating havoc across the continent!

The movie stars Tom Holland again in the title role, Samuel L. Jackson, Zendaya, Cobie Smulders, Jon Favreau, JB Smoove, Jacob Batalon, Martin Star, with Marisa Tomei, and Jake Gyllenhaal. Jon Watts directed again from a script by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers. Kevin Feige and Amy Pascal produced the film.
