Showtime has announced the movies, TV shows and sports programming coming to the service in December. The Showtime December 2022 lineup includes Matt Rogers: Have You Heard of Christmas?, George & Tammy, the finale of Let the Right One In Season 1, and much more.
Actor and Las Culturistas podcast co-host Matt Rogers has prepared a hilarious Christmas-themed comedy special titled Matt Rogers: Have You Heard of Christmas? Featuring an original set of holiday pop music and more than enough jokes to go around, the special premieres Friday, Dec. 2.
Jessica Chastain and Michael Shannon transcend as legendary country musicians Tammy Wynette and George Jones in the upcoming television biopic, George & Tammy. Premiering Sunday, Dec. 4, the six-episode limited series chronicles that idea as it explores her and George Jones’ complicated, yet persevering relationship, which inspired one of the best-selling country songs by a female artist in history, “Stand By Your Man.”
The Showtime December 2022 slate also features the conclusion of Let the Right One In Season 1 on Friday, Dec. 9. When Mark and Eleanor turn to Claire and Peter for help, they soon realize they may have a plan of their own. Meanwhile, Naomi and her new partner, Debra, make strides in their case, and Naomi uncovers a huge secret.
After hosting a star-studded lineup of guests, Ziwe concludes part two of its second season with a sit-down interview with the multi-talented comedian, actor, singer and TV personality, Wayne Brady. This season’s final episode is available to stream on Friday, Dec. 23.
In a busy month for Showtime Sports, Bellator MMA kicks off the month when Bantamweight World Grand Prix semifinalists Faufeon Stots and Danny Sabatello take the ring at Mohegan Sun Arena on Friday, Dec. 9. Later in the month on New Year’s Eve, Bellator MMA and Rizin Fighting Federation go clash in a historic, star-studded crossover event on New Year’s Eve in Saitama, Japan.
Showtime Championship Boxing also has an exciting fight in store with a high-level clash between undefeated lightweight contenders Michael “La Zarza Ali” Rivera and Frank “The Ghost” Martin scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 17. Additionally, a recap of the Best of Showtime Boxing will air on New Year’s Eve.
This December, Showtime subscribers will also have access to a multitude of streaming collections including the “Warm Up With Love” collection and the “Murder Mysteries” collection. You can view the Showtime December 2022 originals, followed by the movie release schedule and streaming collections, below.
SHOWTIME DECEMBER 2022 ORIGINALS
MATT ROGERS: HAVE YOU HEARD OF CHRISTMAS? – Comedy Special Premiere: Friday, December 2
Based on his popular long-running live show of the same name, this musical extravaganza will feature an original set of holiday pop music and comedy to get audiences in the Christmas spirit, all while Rogers seeks to win approval as the next “Pop Prince of Christmas.”
Taped in front of a live audience in Joe’s Pub within The Public Theater in New York City, Matt Rogers: Have You Heard of Christmas? will also feature performances and short comedic bits with guest stars Bowen Yang (Saturday Night Live, Awkwafina Is Nora from Queens) and comedy duo Josh Sharp and Aaron Jackson (F***ing Identical Twins) to further spread some holiday cheer.
GEORGE & TAMMY – Limited Series Premiere: Sunday, December 4
Starring Jessica Chastain and Michael Shannon, George & Tammy chronicles the country music power couple, Tammy Wynette and George Jones, whose complicated-but-enduring relationship inspired some of the most iconic music of all time. Remembered as the “First Lady of Country Music,” Wynette’s most successful song “Stand by Your Man” remains one of the most iconic and best-selling country singles by a female artist.
George Jones’ song “He Stopped Loving Her Today,” is still widely called the greatest country song of all time. With over 30 number-one country songs between them, including duets “We’re Gonna Hold On,” “Golden Ring” and “Near You,” George and Tammy’s legacy, both musically and romantically, remains one of the greatest love stories ever told.
LET THE RIGHT ONE IN – Season Finale: Friday, December 9
Inspired by the original hit Swedish novel and film, the series centers on Mark (Demián Bichir) and his daughter Eleanor (Madison Taylor Baez) whose lives were changed forever 10 years earlier when she was turned into a vampire. Locked in at age 12, perhaps forever, Eleanor lives a closed-in life, able to go out only at night, while her father does his best to provide her with the human blood she needs to stay alive.
With these emotionally charged and terrifying ingredients as a starting point, Let the Right One In will upend genre expectations, turning a naturalistic lens on human frailty, strength and compassion. Additional cast members include Anika Noni Rose, Grace Gummer, Ian Foreman, Jacob Buster, Kevin Carroll and Nick Stahl.
ZIWE – Season Finale: Friday, December 23
The second installment of episodes features Ziwe’s signature sit-down interviews with guests including Michael Che, Julia Fox, Amber Riley, Blake Griffin, Joel Kim Booster, Bob The Drag Queen, DeRay Mckesson, Drew Barrymore and Wayne Brady.
Ziwe will also feature special guest appearances by Marie Faustin, Benito Skinner, Chloe Cherry, Aparna Nancherla, River L. Ramirez, AnnaSophia Robb, John Reynolds, Larry Owens, Amy Sedaris, Laura Benanti, Scott Adsit, Jackie Hoffman and Josh Sharpe along with musical performances by Ziwe, sketches and more – including unscripted and unpredictable interactions with everyday people.
