The Enola Holmes cast is expanding with news that Sam Claflin (The Hunger Games films, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides) and Fiona Shaw (Killing Eve, Harry Potter films) are on board.
Claflin and Shaw are joining Millie Bobby Brown (Stranger Things), Helena Bonham Carter, and Henry Cavill (upcoming The Witcher, Mission: Impossible – Fallout) in the film. Brown is playing the title character, Carter is her mom, and Cavill will portray Sherlock Holmes.
The Legendary production will adapt the Enola Holmes Mystery Series by Nancy Springer. Harry Bradbeer is directing the movie, in which Enola Holmes (Millie Bobby Brown) is the much younger sister of Sherlock Holmes. She manages to outsmart him at every turn, however, creatively solving mysteries of her own. The film was written by Jack Thorne.
The Enola Holmes Mystery Series is officially described as follows:
“Enola Holmes, Nancy’s six book series about Sherlock Holmes’ younger sister has garnered a lot of attention. The series, is popular among both tweens and adults. The first book, published in 2006, begins with fourteen year old Enola, learning that her mother has disappeared. Enola journeys out to find her, all the while eluding her brothers: Sherlock and Mycroft. She solves several missing persons cases as she searches. You will love the way that Nancy brings you through the streets of London with such descriptive dialogue that you will feel that you are on the run with the young Enola.”
Legendary is producing with Brown and Paige Brown via their PCMA Productions. Alex Garcia and Ali Mendes will oversee the project for Legendary.
