Sam Claflin Reteams with Elizabeth Banks for Charlie’s Angels

The Hunger Games stars Sam Claflin and Elizabeth Banks will reunite for Sony Pictures‘ Charlie’s Angels, according to Variety. The trade does not state who Sam Claflin will play, but we do know that Banks is playing one of the multiple Bosleys. Sir Patrick Stewart and Djimon Hounsou will also be playing a Bosley.

Elizabeth Banks is directing the new Charlie’s Angels, which will feature Kristen Stewart, Naomi Scott (upcoming AladdinPower Rangers), and newcomer Ella Balinska as the angels. Jonathan Tucker and Luis Gerardo Méndez are also on board. In addition to directing and playing Bosley, Elizabeth Banks is producing and co-wrote the film with Jay Basu as well.

The new film takes the detective agency premise of the original television series and turn-of-the century movies and takes it global, with the Townsend Agency now a worldwide security and intelligence service that has teams around the planet. The movie will focus on one of those teams and the next generation of Angels.

“Charlie’s Angels, for me, is one of the original brands to celebrate the empowered woman since its debut in the ’70s,” Banks said previously. “This film honors the legacy of Charles Townsend and his agency while introducing a new era of modern and global Angels. I couldn’t be more excited to work with Kristen, Naomi and Ella to bring this chapter to fans around the world.”

Sony Pictures has set a September 27, 2019 release for the new Charlie’s Angels movie.

Charlie’s Angels was first a TV series from 1976 to 1981 that starred Kate Jackson, Farrah Fawcett, Jaclyn Smith and Cheryl Ladd. Two movies were also made in 2000 and 2003 starring Cameron Diaz, Drew Barrymore and Lucy Liu.
