Netflix has provided Vital Thrills with a first look at Russian Doll Season 2, which will be coming to the streaming service this spring.
Set four years after Nadia (Natasha Lyonne) and Alan (Charlie Barnett) escaped mortality’s time loop together, Russian Doll Season 2 will continue to explore existential thematics through an often humorous and sci-fi lens.
Discovering a fate even worse than endless death, this season finds Nadia and Alan delving deeper into their pasts through an unexpected time portal located in one of Manhattan’s most notorious locations.
At first they experience this as an ever-expanding, era-spanning, intergenerational adventure but they soon discover this extraordinary event might be more than they bargained for and, together, must search for a way out.
The Emmy-winning show returns with Lyonne serving as showrunner and executive producer.
The series is also executive produced by Alex Buono, Amy Poehler (Paper Kite Productions), Leslye Headland, Lilly Burns (Jax Media), Tony Hernandez (Jax Media), Dave Becky (3 Arts), Kate Arend (Paper Kite Productions), Regina Corrado and Allison Silverman.
Released on February 1, 2019, the first season of Russian Doll follows Nadia on her journey as the guest of honor at a seemingly inescapable party one night in New York City.
The first eight episodes also starred Greta Lee, Yul Vazquez, and Tony Award-winner Elizabeth Ashley.
Golden Globe winner and Academy Award nominee Chloë Sevigny, SAG Award winner Dascha Polanco, Brendan Sexton III, Rebecca Henderson, Jeremy Bobb, Ritesh Rajan and Jocelyn Bioh appeared as guest stars.
The series is produced by Universal Television, Poehler’s Paper Kite Productions, JAX Media and 3 Arts Entertainment.
