Academy Award winners Sam Rockwell (Vice, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, The Way Way Back), Octavia Spencer (The Shape of Water, Hidden Figures, The Help), and Allison Janney (I, Tonya, Mom, Juno, The Way Way Back) will star in The Heart, to be directed by Academy Award winners Nat Faxon and Jim Rash (The Way Way Back, The Descendants) from an original script the pair wrote. Kevin Walsh (All the Money in the World, Manchester by the Sea) and Ryan Stowell (Manchester by the Sea) are producing the film via The Walsh Company banner.
Sierra/Affinity is launching international sales of The Heart at the 2019 European Film Market in Berlin. Principal photography of the project will commence at the end of this year.
“We are very excited to bring The Heart to the international market not only because we know it is a film with mass appeal, but also since it allows us to collaborate with our longtime friends Nat, Jim, Kevin, and Ryan,” said Jonathan Kier, Sierra/Affinity’s President of Sales and Distribution. “Having worked with Nat and Jim on The Way Way Back and both producers on Manchester by the Sea, we have first-hand experience of how they all can brilliantly create an amazing film.”
The Heart tells the story of Joe (Rockwell) and Lucy (Spencer) who, while desperate for cash, take the job of delivering a human heart from New York to Florida in 24 hours. When they realize that their delivery is destined for a black-market buyer who illegally skipped the donor list, they attempt to reroute it to its rightful recipient, but they are soon hunted down by multiple insane criminals — including the greedy millionaire buyer, his scorned brother, and Lucy’s own drug-dealing ex-boss (Janney).
Faxon and Rash are currently in production on Downhill for Fox Searchlight and starring Will Ferrell and Julia Louis-Dreyfus.
