Richard Madden Joins Angelina Jolie in Marvel Studios’ The Eternals

-

Scottish actor Richard Madden, most known for playing Robb Stark in Game of Thrones, is in talks to join Marvel Studios’ The Eternals, according to Variety. He will be joining the previously-announced Angelina Jolie and Kumail Nanjiani in the film.

Created by Jack Kirby, the characters first appeared in The Eternals #1 (July 1976). The Eternals were created by the Celestials, who did experiments on human beings millions of years ago. They also created the Deviants, who, as the name suggests, are the villains of the story. The Eternals and the Deviants have battled each other throughout history. The Eternals can breed with humans and are like them in appearance.

The film’s plot reportedly involves the love story between Ikaris, a man fueled by cosmic energy, and Sersi, who relishes moving amongst humans. Madden will be playing Ikaris and Jolie is expected to be playing Sersi.

The Eternals will be directed by Chloe Zhao, whose credits include The Rider and Songs My Brothers Taught Me. The script is by Matthew and Ryan Firpo. Kevin Feige is set to produce the film.

Richard Madden has also appeared in Cinderella, Ibiza, and BBC thriller series Bodyguard.

Earlier today, The Walt Disney Studios announced its upcoming release date schedule, which includes numerous Marvel Studios titles. We’ll have to wait and see which date The Eternals will land on.
