Sony Pictures’ Screen Gems has revealed a first look at Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City, opening in theaters on November 24, 2021.
The film stars Kaya Scodelario, Hannah John-Kamen, Robbie Amell, Tom Hopper, Avan Jogia, Donal Logue and Neal McDonough.

Returning to the origins of the massively popular Resident Evil franchise, fan and filmmaker Johannes Roberts brings the games to life for a whole new generation of fans.
In Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City, once the booming home of pharmaceutical giant Umbrella Corporation, Raccoon City is now a dying Midwestern town.

The company’s exodus left the city a wasteland… with great evil brewing below the surface. When that evil is unleashed, a group of survivors must work together to uncover the truth behind Umbrella and make it through the night.
The previous six Resident Evil films grossed $1.2 billion at the worldwide box office.
“With this film, I really wanted to go back to the original, first two games and the associated terrifying experience that I had when I first played them,” said writer and director Johannes Roberts previously.

“And at the same time, I’m telling the story of a tiny, dying American town that will seem both familiar and relevant to today’s audiences.”
Constantin Film producer Robert Kulzer, added: “After a dozen games, six live action films and hundreds of pages of fanfiction, we felt compelled to go back to 1998 to explore the secrets that lay within the walls of the Spencer Mansion and hidden from Raccoon City.”
The producers for this origin story are Kulzer of Constantin Film (Paul W. S. Anderson’s Resident Evil franchise), James Harris for Tea Shop Productions (I Am Not a Serial Killer) and Hartley Gorenstein (The Boys).

Executive producing are Martin Moszkowicz, CEO of Constantin Film AG, along with Victor Hadida (Davis Film), Jeremy Bolt, and Paul W.S. Anderson. Alex Zhang (Greyhound) is co-executive producer and Dylan Tarason (Hell or High Water) from Constantin Film is co-producer.
Constantin Film‘s feature credits include The NeverEnding Story, the Fantastic Four films, The Name of the Rose, Nowhere in Africa, Downfall, Perfume: The Story of a Murderer, The Baader Meinhof Complex, Pope Joan, The House of Spirits, the Resident Evil films and Monster Hunter.
On the television side, Constantin is behind such series as Black Beauty, Shadowhunters, Perfume, and more.
