An inside look at the anticipated Resident Evil Netflix series has arrived today and can be watched using the player below. The video game adaptation will launch on the streaming service on July 14.
Evil has evolved in Resident Evil, the live-action series that will redefine the legendary horror franchise on the streaming service.
In the year 2036, 14 years after a deadly virus caused a global apocalypse, Jade Wesker fights for survival in a world overrun by blood-thirsty, infected, and insane creatures.
In this absolute carnage, Jade is haunted by her past in New Raccoon City, by her father’s chilling connections to the Umbrella Corporation, but mostly by what happened to her sister, Billie.
Based on Capcom‘s legendary video game franchise, the Resident Evil Netflix series stars Lance Reddick as Albert Wesker, Ella Balinska, Tamara Smart, Siena Agudong, Adeline Rudolph, and Paola Nuñez.
The additional cast members are Ahad Raza Mir, Connor Gossatti, and Turlough Convery.
Andrew Dabb (Supernatural) is the showrunner, executive producer, and writer. Mary Leah Sutton is an executive producer and writer.
The executive producers also include Robert Kulzer and Oliver Berben of Constantin Film. The producer is Constantin Film CEO Martin Moszkowicz.
Consisting of eight one-hour episodes, Resident Evil will tell a brand new story across two timelines. In the first timeline, 14-year-old sisters Jade and Billie Wesker are moved to New Raccoon City. A manufactured, corporate town, forced on them right as adolescence is in full swing.
But the more time they spend there, the more they come to realize that the town is more than it seems, and their father may be concealing dark secrets. Secrets that could destroy the world.
Cut to the second timeline, well over a decade into the future: there are less than 15 million people left on Earth. And more than six billion monsters — people and animals infected with the T-virus.
Jade, now 30, struggles to survive in this New World while the secrets from her past — about her sister, her father, and herself — continue to haunt her.
“Resident Evil is my favorite game of all time. I’m incredibly excited to tell a new chapter in this amazing story and bring the first ever Resident Evil series to Netflix members around the world,” said Andrew Dabb previously.
“For every type of Resident Evil fan, including those joining us for the first time, the series will be complete with a lot of old friends and some things (bloodthirsty, insane things) people have never seen before.”
