20th Century Studios announced today that the Prey Hulu launch is the biggest to date for the streaming service, including all film and TV series debuts. The film premiered on the streaming service on August 5.

In addition to the Prey Hulu debut, the film is the most watched premiere on Star+ in Latin America and Disney+ under the Star Banner in all other territories, based on hours watched in the first three days of its release.

Prey is the story of a young woman, Naru, a fierce and highly-skilled warrior who has been raised in the shadow of some of the most legendary hunters who roam the Great Plains. So when danger threatens her camp, she sets out to protect her people.

The prey she stalks and ultimately confronts turns out to be a highly-evolved alien predator with a technically advanced arsenal, resulting in a vicious and terrifying showdown between the two adversaries.

Prey stars Amber Midthunder, newcomer Dakota Beavers, Stormee Kipp, Michelle Thrush, Julian Black Antelope, and Dane DiLiegro as the Predator.

The film is directed by Dan Trachtenberg, written by Patrick Aison, and produced by John Davis, Jhane Myers, and Marty Ewing. Prey is rated R for strong, bloody violence.

Lawrence Gordon, Ben Rosenblatt, James E. Thomas, John C. Thomas, and Marc Toberoff serve as executive producers.

The filmmakers were committed to creating a film that provides an accurate portrayal of the Comanche and brings a level of authenticity that rings true to its Indigenous peoples.

As a result, Prey features a Native Comanche producer (Myers), and a cast comprised almost entirely of Native and First Nation’s talent.

Prey is available on Hulu entirely in Comanche as a language option or with Comanche subtitles, which is the first time a feature-length movie on a direct-to-consumer streaming platform has been available in the Comanche language in its entirety.
