Starz has released a first look at Power Book III: Raising Kanan, which is the follow-up to Power Book II: Ghost. The last two episodes of Ghost Season 1 will premiere tonight and on Sunday, January 3.
Power Book III: Raising Kanan is a prequel story that takes viewers back to the ‘90s and the early years of iconic Power character Kanan Stark, played in the original series by Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson.
Mekai Curtis will play the young Stark in Raising Kanan. Joining Curtis in the series are Patina Miller, Omar Epps, London Brown, Malcolm Mays, Shanley Caswell, Lovie Simone, Toby Sandeman and Joey Bada$$.
The additional cast members include Quincy Brown, Ade Chike Torbert, Natalee Linez and Annabelle Zasowski.
The Lionsgate Television-produced series is scheduled to premiere on Starz in the summer of 2021.
Power Book III: Raising Kanan is executive produced by Courtney A. Kemp through her End of Episode and Jackson through his G-Unit Film and Television.
The executive producers also include Mark Canton through his Atmosphere Entertainment MM, End of Episode’s Chris Selak and Danielle DeJesus, Shana Stein, Bart Wenrich and Kevin Fox with Rob Hardy executive producing and directing the premiere episode.
Starz previously announced two more series in the expanded Power universe from prolific creator, writer, producer and showrunner Courtney A. Kemp and executive producer Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson.
Power Book IV: Influence follows Rashad Tate (played by Larenz Tate) in his ruthless pursuit of political power.
And in Power Book V: Force, fans will ride along with Tommy Egan (played by Joseph Sikora) after he cuts ties and puts New York in his rearview mirror for good.
