Peter and the Wolf and Scavengers Reign Trailers Debut
In addition to the Max October 2023 lineup, the streaming service has provided us with the trailers for animated short film Peter and the Wolf and animated series Scavengers Reign.
The Max Original Peter and the Wolf debuts Thursday, October 19. Based on the classic fairytale, the short film transforms Sergei Prokofiev’s beloved symphony into an enchanting and visually modern retelling.
Peter and the Wolf features music and narration by Gavin Friday and artwork based on original illustrations by Bono, from his book of the same name.
Peter and the Wolf follows grieving 12-year-old Peter, who is now in the care of his grandfather after enduring the loss of a parent. Upon hearing stories of a wolf on the loose, Peter decides to explore the vast meadow and forest nearby to try and find the wolf himself.
Along the way he encounters creatures who help him on his quest, while contending with hunters aiming to win a prize for capturing the wolf.
The uniquely creative project is led by musician and composer Gavin Friday, with The Friday Seezer Ensemble performing Prokofiev score, newly arranged by Maurice Seezer and Gavin Friday.
Peter and the Wolf is produced by BMG and Blink Industries and executive produced by Alistair Norbury & Stuart Souter for BMG, Benjamin Lole & James Stevenson Bretton at Blink Industries.
Blink Industries’ Elliot Dear and Stephen McNally are Directors, and the producer is Adriana Piasek-Wanski. BBC Studios is handling global distribution.
The Max Original animated series Scavengers Reign debuts with three episodes on Thursday, October 19 followed by three episodes weekly through November 9 on Max.
In this expansion of the 2016 animated short film Scavengers, Scavengers Reign follows several groups of survivors as they attempt to navigate a way off this strange planet where the laws of physics as we know them do not apply.
In this surreal sci-fi animated series from creators Joseph Bennett and Charles Huettner, the remaining crew of a damaged interstellar freighter ship find themselves stranded on a beautiful, yet unforgiving alien planet where they must survive long enough to escape or be rescued.
As the survivors struggle to locate their downed ship and missing crewmates, their new home reveals a hostile world allowed to thrive without human interference.
The voice cast includes Sunita Mani, Wunmi Mosaku, and Alia Shawkat. Guest starring are Pollyanna McIntosh, Sepideh Moafi, and Dash Williams.
Scavengers Reign was created and executive produced by Joseph Bennett and Charles Huettner.
The executive producer is by Chris Prynoski and co-executive producers are Sean Buckelew and James Merrill.
The supervising director is Benjy Brooke and the director is Vincent Tsui. The series was produced in partnership with Titmouse, Inc.
