Ant-Man and Avengers star Paul Rudd has revealed in a new social post that he has joined the cast of Ghostbusters 2020! You can watch his announcement below.
Scheduled for a July 10, 2020 release, the Sony Pictures film stars Mckenna Grace (Captain Marvel), Finn Wolfhard (Stranger Things, It Chapter Two), and Carrie Coon (Widows, The Sinner) as a family. Grace has been described as the ostensible lead, with Wolfhard playing her brother and Coon her single mother.
Director Jason Reitman previously revealed that the original cast had read the screenplay. Sigourney Weaver has also said that she, Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd will be back, and Reitman hinted that Ernie Hudson will return as well.
Reitman has mentioned that taking on the project was a very intimidating thing, considering his father, Ivan, directed the first two films. “My father’s the greatest storyteller I know. He’s directed movies that defined my childhood. We wanted to make a love letter to the original movie.” Reitman co-wrote the screenplay with Gil Kenan.
The sequel to the Ghostbusters movies made in the 1980s will center on four teens, one set older, one set younger, with a focus on one family in particular. The new Ghostbusters movie is set in the world of the original two films.
