Patty Jenkins Talks Amazon Movie and Wonder Woman 3

With Wonder Woman grossing an impressive $821.8 million in 2017 and the sequel, Wonder Woman 1984, set to open in theaters on August 14, fans can expect even more from the DC Comics world in the future. Talking to Total Film, director Patty Jenkins confirmed that both an Amazon movie and Wonder Woman 3 were being planned.

“I’m not going to nail down a fresh thought about it until this movie comes out, because I kind of want to give myself a palette cleanser, and be fresh of mind,” Jenkins told the magazine. “But yeah, there’s an arc that I have in mind for the first movie, and then the second movie, and then the Amazon movie, and then the third movie.”

She does not see herself directing the spin-off film about the Amazonian women warriors, who have appeared in both Wonder Woman and Justice League. “I’m not going to direct it, hopefully,” Jenkins said.

“I’m going to try really hard not to. It’s not going to be easy. But [WW84 co-writer and former DC Entertainment President and Chief Creative Officer] Geoff Johns and I came up with the story, and we sold the pitch, and we’re going to get it going. I’ll produce it, for sure.”

Wonder Woman 1984 fast forwards to the 1980s and will have Wonder Woman facing all-new foes. She is now working at the Natural History Museum in Washington, D.C., and lives quietly, still mourning the loves she’s left behind.

Director Patty JenkinsWonder Woman 1984 stars Gal Gadot in the title role, alongside Chris Pine as Steve Trevor, Kristen Wiig as Super-Villain The Cheetah, Pedro Pascal as Max Lord, Robin Wright as Antiope and Connie Nielsen as Hippolyta.
