Haunting of Hill House’s Oliver Jackson-Cohen to Play the Invisible Man

The Haunting of Hill House star Oliver Jackson-Cohen has landed the title role of Universal Pictures and Blumhouse Productions’ The Invisible Man, according to Deadline. The movie will begin filming this month in Sydney, Australia.

Oliver Jackson-Cohen joins a cast that includes Elisabeth Moss, Aldis Hodge, Harriet Dyer and Storm Reid. His TV credits include Man in an Orange ShirtEmerald CityDracula, and Mr. Selfridge, and he has appeared in the films The HealerThe RavenWhat’s Your Number?Faster, and Going the Distance.

Leigh Whannell is writing, directing and executive producing The Invisible Man. Jason Blum produces for his Blumhouse Productions with Kylie du Fresne for Goalpost Pictures. The film is a co-production of Goalpost Pictures Australia and Blumhouse Productions, in association with Nervous Tick, for Universal Pictures.

Whannell and Blum have previously worked together on films such as Insidious: The Last Key and Upgrade.

As was previously announced, Universal is moving on from its planned interconnected “Dark Universe” concept and will instead concentrate on the individual monster properties. Upcoming titles for Universal’s new monster strategy will be rooted in horror, with no restrictions on budget, tone, or rating, and no expectation that they will exist as part of a shared universe.
