Oliver Jackson-Cohen Joins The Haunting of Bly Manor

-

Another The Haunting of Hill House star is joining the cast of The Haunting of Bly Manor, which will launch on Netflix in 2020! Oliver Jackson-Cohen is joining his fellow Hill House co-star, Victoria Pedretti, in the highly-anticipated series.

As you can see in his announcement below, Jackson-Cohen will play Peter, a charming young man who lives at Bly Manor. He makes life very difficult for everyone who lives there.

Pedretti will play Dani, a governess who takes care of two very unusual children in the new series. The actress played Eleanor (“Nellie”) Crain in the critically-acclaimed The Haunting of Hill House.

Oliver Jackson-Cohen played Luke Crain in the series. Just last week, it was also announced that the actor will play The Invisible Man in Universal Pictures and Blumhouse’s upcoming movie.

The Haunting of Bly Manor is based on Henry James’ The Turn of the Screw. The Turn of the Screw, originally published in 1898, is a gothic ghost story novella. Due to its original content, the novella became a favorite text of academics who subscribe to New Criticism. The novella has had differing interpretations, often mutually exclusive. Many critics have tried to determine the exact nature of the evil hinted at by the story. However, others have argued that the true brilliance of the novella comes with its ability to create an intimate confusion and suspense for the reader.

Netflix previously announced that Mike Flanagan and Trevor Macy signed an overall deal with the streaming service to develop and produce new projects, including the new chapter in The Haunting series.

In features, which are separate from the Netflix deal, Flanagan and Macy are in post-production on Doctor Sleep, the feature adaptation of Stephen King’s 2013 follow-up to his seminal novel The Shining, starring Ewan McGregor and Rebecca Ferguson, at Warner Bros. Pictures, for a November 8, 2019 release. Flanagan directed and penned the adaptation, while Macy produced with Jon Berg.
