Netflix has released the brand-new Moxie trailer, which you can watch using the player below. The cast of the film includes Hadley Robinson, Lauren Tsai, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Nico Hiraga, Sydney Park, Josephine Langford, Clark Gregg, Josie Totah, Alycia Pascual-Peña, Anjelika Washington, Charlie Hall, Sabrina Haskett with Ike Barinholtz, Amy Poehler and Marcia Gay Harden.

Directed by Amy Poehler, Moxie centers on Vivian (Hadley Robinson), a seemingly shy 16-year-old who has always preferred to keep her head down and fly under the radar. But when the arrival of a new student (Alycia Pascual-Peña) forces her to examine the unchecked behavior of her fellow students running rampant at her high school, Vivian realizes she’s fed up.
Inspired by her mother’s (Amy Poehler) rebellious past, Vivian anonymously publishes an underground zine called Moxie to expose bias and wrongdoing in her high school, and unexpectedly sparks a movement.

Now at the center of a revolution, Vivian begins to forge new friendships with other young women and allies, reaching across the divide of cliques and clubs as they learn to navigate the highs and lows of high school together.
Tamara Chestna (After) and Dylan Meyer adapted the screenplay based on the book of the same name by Jennifer Mathieu. The book is officially described as follows:

“Vivian Carter is fed up. Fed up with an administration at her high school that thinks the football team can do no wrong. Fed up with sexist dress codes, hallway harassment, and gross comments from guys during class. But most of all, Viv Carter is fed up with always following the rules.
“Viv’s mom was a tough-as-nails, punk rock Riot Grrrl in the ’90s, and now Viv takes a page from her mother’s past and creates a feminist zine that she distributes anonymously to her classmates. She’s just blowing off steam, but other girls respond. As Viv forges friendships with other young women across the divides of cliques and popularity rankings, she realizes that what she has started is nothing short of a girl revolution.

“Moxie is a book about high school life that will make you wanna riot!”
The producers are Amy Poehler for Paper Kite, Morgan Sackett, Kim Lessing for Paper Kite, and David Hyman. Paper Kite is also behind the hit Netflix show Russian Doll and Making It on NBC, which Poehler co-hosts.

This is Poehler’s second directing feature with Netflix. Poehler also directed and starred in Wine Country alongside Maya Rudolph, Rachel Dratch, Ana Gasteyer, Paula Pell, Emily Spivey, Tina Fey, Maya Erskine, Jason Schwartzman, and Cherry Jones.
