One of Marvel’s most compelling and conflicted characters comes to the big screen as Oscar winner Jared Leto transforms into the enigmatic antihero Michael Morbius.

Dangerously ill with a rare blood disorder, and determined to save others suffering his same fate, Dr. Morbius attempts a desperate gamble.

While at first it seems to be a radical success, a darkness inside him is unleashed. Will good override evil – or will Morbius succumb to his mysterious new urges?

“In the film, I play a new Marvel character who attempts to cure his lifelong blood disease with experimental science,” said Leto previously. “And the process, turns into a living vampire… I think it’s going to be a fun one. I can’t wait for you guys to see it.”

Directed by Daniel Espinosa (Life, Safe House), the film also stars Adria Arjona as the fiancée of the Nobel Prize-winning scientist. Jared Harris plays Morbius’s mentor.

Tyrese Gibson is Simon Stroud, an FBI agent hunting Morbius with partner Alberto Rodriguez (Al Madrigal). And Matt Smith plays the villain Loxias Crown, Morbius’s best friend who also suffers from the blood disease.

Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless wrote the script and the screen story. Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach produce with Lucas Foster. The executive producers include Louise Rosner and Emma Ludbrook.

The music is by Jon Ekstrand, who has worked with Espinosa on such films as Easy Money, Child 44, and Life.

Created by writer Roy Thomas and originally designed by penciler Gil Kane, Morbius the Living Vampire first appeared in The Amazing Spider-Man #101 in October 1971.
