Monster Hunter Movie Trailer and New Photos!

-

Sony Pictures has released the official trailer for the Monster Hunter movie, scheduled to open in theaters on December 30, 2020. You can watch the trailer below and the studio has also released the new poster and photos, which you can view scrolling down.

The Monster Hunter movie was written and directed by Paul W. S. Anderson (Resident Evil films). The film stars Milla Jovovich, Tony Jaa, Tip ‘T.I.’ Harris, Meagan Good, Diego Boneta, Josh Helman, Jin Au-Yeung, and Ron Perlman.

Behind our world, there is another: a world of dangerous and powerful monsters that rule their domain with deadly ferocity. When an unexpected sandstorm transports Captain Artemis (Milla Jovovich) and her unit (TI Harris, Meagan Good, Diego Boneta) to a new world, the soldiers are shocked to discover that this hostile and unknown environment is home to enormous and terrifying monsters immune to their firepower.

In their desperate battle for survival, the unit encounters the mysterious Hunter (Tony Jaa), whose unique skills allow him to stay one step ahead of the powerful creatures. As Artemis and Hunter slowly build trust, she discovers that he is part of a team led by the Admiral (Ron Perlman).

Facing a danger so great it could threaten to destroy their world, the brave warriors combine their unique abilities to band together for the ultimate showdown.

The video game adaptation was rated PG-13 for sequences of creature action and violence throughout.

The Sony Pictures release is produced by Anderson and Jeremy Bolt from Impact Pictures, and by Robert Kulzer and Martin Moszkowicz from Constantin Film. Dennis Berardi, head of VFX for the film, also acts as producer.

Capcom’s Monster Hunter series consists of hunting action games that pit players against giant monsters in a beautiful natural environment. Since the first title made its debut 14 years ago in 2004, the series has attracted a dedicated fan base, and overall grown into a mega-hit, with cumulative sales of the series exceeding 50 million units.

Monster Hunter: World, the latest title in the series, enthralled game players the world over and shipped 10 million units, making it the best-selling title in Capcom history.

Principal photography for the film took place in South Africa and Namibia. Constantin Film will release the movie in German speaking territories, Tencent Pictures in China, and Toho Film in Japan. Sony’s Screen Gems will release the film in the US, with the studio’s Sony Pictures Releasing International handling distribution in the rest of the world.

“After living and breathing in the universe of Monster Hunter for 14 years we are thrilled with enormous anticipation to see our creations adapted for a theatrical release,” said Monster Hunter series producer Ryozo Tsujimoto previously.

“Monster Hunter’s fan base has exploded over the past year with the runaway success of the game Monster Hunter: World. It is our hope long-time fans and new alike will join us on this exciting exploration of the Monster Hunter universe.”
