McKenzie and Smith Join Edgar Wright's Last Night in Soho

Thomasin Harcourt McKenzie (Leave No Trace) and Matt Smith (The Crown, Doctor Who) are set to join the cast of Working Title’s Last Night in Soho, Edgar Wright’s upcoming psychological thriller set in London.

McKenzie and Smith join previously-announced Anya Taylor-Joy. The movie will shoot this summer from a screenplay co-written by Wright and Krysty Wilson-Cairns (Penny Dreadful).

Nira Park, Tim Bevan, Eric Fellner and Wright will produce. Focus Features and Film4 will co-finance the film. Focus Features and Universal Pictures International will distribute the film worldwide.

Edgar Wright previously described the project as a psychological horror thriller set in London and starring a female lead. Citing Don’t Look Now and Roman Polanski’s Repulsion as influences, Edgar Wright’s said the film “is about the London I’ve existed in.” He added: “I realized I had never made a film about central London – specifically Soho, somewhere I’ve spent a huge amount of time in the last 25 years. With Hot Fuzz and Shaun of the Dead you make movies about places you’ve lived in.”

Edgar Wright’s last film, Baby Driver, was a runaway success in 2017 with $226.9 million earned on a budget of just $34 million.
