Matt Damon is Brett Kavanaugh in the Saturday Night Live Cold Open

20 million viewers watched Thursday’s testimonies from Brett Kavanaugh, who has been nominated for the U.S. Supreme Court, and Dr. Christine Blasey Ford, who alleged that Kavanaugh sexually assaulted her in 1982. Last night, NBC‘s Saturday Night Live took on the Kavanaugh hearing in the Season 44 premiere’s Cold Open!

Watch Matt Damon as Judge Brett Kavanaugh in the video above as he takes questions from Senators Chuck Grassley (Alex Moffat), Diane Feinstein (Cecily Strong), Amy Klobuchar (Rachel Dratch), Thom Tillis (Mikey Day), Cory Booker (Chris Redd), John Kennedy (Kyle Mooney), Sheldon Whitehouse (Pete Davidson), Lindsey Graham (Kate McKinnon), and prosecutor Rachel Mitchell (Aidy Bryant).

While host Adam Driver surprisingly didn’t do a Star Wars skit (following his memorable Undercover Boss skit last time), he did try to spoil Star Wars: Episode IX in the opening monologue, only to be interrupted by “SNL” cast members.

You can watch the monologue and many more skits from the season opener below! You’ll also find two Kanye West performances – “We Got Love” with Teyana Taylor and “I Love It” with Lil Pump and Adele Givens.

Next up, Saturday Night Live will welcome Awkwafina to host the second show of the season on Oct. 6, marking her Studio 8H debut. Joining Awkwafina will be Grammy Award-nominated artist Travis Scott, also marking his first “SNL” performance. Seth Meyers returns to Studio 8H for his hosting debut on Oct. 13. Meyers will be joined by the legendary Paul Simon, and the appearance will mark his 15th time on “SNL.”

Saturday Night Live is produced in association with Broadway Video. The creator and executive producer is Lorne Michaels.
