Yet another video game has been pushed back this week following Marvel’s Avengers, Final Fantasy VII Remake, and Cyberpunk 2077. Originally scheduled for February 28, 2020, the Marvel’s Iron Man VR release date has now been scheduled for May 15 (pre-order here).
Developer Camouflaj said in a tweet: “In order to deliver on our vision and meet the high expectations of our amazing community, we’ve made the difficult decision to move Marvel’s Iron Man VR to a May 15, 2020 release. We truly appreciate your patience and understanding. You’ll be hearing from us again soon!”
In the original Iron Man adventure, you’ll don the PlayStation VR headset to suit up as the Armored Avenger. Using two PlayStation Move motion controllers, you’ll fire up Iron Man’s Repulsor Jets and blast into the skies with an arsenal of iconic Iron Man weapons at your fingertips. You’ll face off against Iron Man’s greatest foes in high stakes, action-packed battles, and you can upgrade tech in Tony Stark’s garage to customize Iron Man’s sleek suit and awesome abilities.
Lead writer Brendan Murphy of Camouflaj previously talked about the story. “The story has gone through many iterations, yet early on, we landed on the idea that hacker villain Ghost should be Marvel’s Iron Man VR’s headlining antagonist. Ghost is an all-time classic Iron Man super Villain, starting from the character’s first appearance in Iron Man #219, this formidable adversary continues to challenge Iron Man throughout multiple arcs, such as Inevitable and Unholy Ghost.”
He added: “In our game, Ghost is a great foil for Tony Stark—she not only holds a grudge against our hero, but holds a mirror up to him. As a witness to the damage caused by Stark-made weapons years earlier, Ghost’s fight against Iron Man is both ideological and personal. Because of Ghost, our complex and fascinating hero must reconcile his troubled past, both on and off the battlefield.”
Marvel’s Iron Man VR will be available as a Standard Edition and a Digital Deluxe Edition.
