Lizzo Joins the Cast of STXfilms’ Hustlers

Breakout star Lizzo has joined the cast of STXfilms’ star-studded film Hustlers. She joins previously-announced co-stars Constance Wu, Jennifer Lopez, Cardi B, Lili Reinhart, Keke Palmer, Julia Stiles, Mercedes Ruehl, Trace Lysette, Mette Towley and Madeline Brewer.

Lizzo released her major label debut album Cuz I Love You on April 19 to critical acclaim. Following a much-lauded performance at Coachella, her sold-out Cuz I Love You Tour began on April 22, with a second sold-out leg kicking off on July 18th in Portland, OR.

This role represents Lizzo’s second time working with STXfilms, after lending her voice to the studio’s upcoming animated musical adventure UglyDolls.

Hustlers is inspired by a 2016 New York Magazine article and follows a crew of savvy former strip club employees who band together to turn the tables on their Wall Street clients.

The film is currently shooting in New York and will be released into theaters on September 13, 2019. Hustlers is written and directed by Lorene Scafaria.

STXfilms is producing Hustlers alongside Jennifer Lopez, Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas and Benny Medina, who previously collaborated with the studio on the 2018 romantic-comedy Second Act and the just-announced romantic comedy Marry Me, as well as Adam McKay, Will Ferrell and Jessica Elbaum for Gloria Sanchez Productions.

Kate Vorhoff and Catherine Hagedorn are overseeing the film’s production for the studio. STXinternational is handling international distribution and distributing directly in the U.K. and Ireland.
