Disney’s New Snow White Movie Eyes Marc Webb to Direct

With The Walt Disney Studios having just released Aladdin and with more live-action adaptations on the way, such as The Lion King and Mulan, the studio is setting its sights on yet another princess. According Variety, Marc Webb is in talks to direct the studio’s new live-action Snow White movie.

Webb’s credits include (500) Days of SummerThe Amazing Spider-Man movies, Gifted, and The Only Living Boy in New York.

The site adds that The Girl on the Train screenwriter Erin Cressida Wilson is in negotiations to write the script for the Snow White movie, which will expand on the story from the 1938 animated classic.

New music for the movie will be created by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, the duo behind La La Land, The Greatest Showman and Dear Evan Hansen.

The original film, titled Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, was based on the German fairy tale by the Brothers Grimm. It was the first full-length cel animated feature film and the earliest Disney animated feature.

While Disney has not made their own live-action Snow White movie, there’s been several other adaptations in recent years, including Mirror Mirror and Snow White and the Huntsman.
